Bridge pose - Setu bandhasana

***Opens throat (4th) and Heart (5th) Chakras***

Lie on back, bend knees, soles of feet flat on ground, arms by side shoulder width palms to ground, take deep breath. With out-breath push buttocks upward , contracting buttock muscles to lower back, hold then come back down slowly, upper back touching floor first. Rest, connect to Earth.

- stimulates Kundalini (male energy)
- creates chest expansion
- strengthens neck (5th chakra)
- shoulder opening (4th chakra)
- in backbends one comes face to face with boundaries of our flexibility
CAUTION: red face could indicate high blood pressure, student should be advised not to practice this posture.
